If you’re training at BODYTEC, you’re engaging in a high-intensity, full-body contraction. To get the most out of those 20 minutes, your focus shouldn’t just be on the “building blocks” (protein), but on the “electrical system” that makes the movement possible: Hydration and Electrolytes.
Here is why your water bottle matters more than your shaker cup.
1. Water is the Transport System
You can eat all the protein in the world, but without adequate hydration, those amino acids can’t get to your muscles efficiently. Water makes up about 75% of your muscle tissue. When you are even slightly dehydrated, your blood volume drops, slowing down the delivery of nutrients and the removal of metabolic waste.
2. Electrolytes: The Spark Plugs of Muscle Contraction
Think of your body like a high-tech battery. For your brain to tell your muscles to contract—especially during the intense impulses of an EMS session—it needs electrical signals.
Electrolytes (Sodium, Potassium, Magnesium, and Calcium) are the minerals that carry these electrical charges.

- The Electrolyte Factor: If you’re a heavy sweater, water isn’t enough. Add a high-quality electrolyte tablet or a pinch of Himalayan salt to your water to ensure those electrical signals stay strong.
