How to achieve work-life balance

Work-Life Balance

When you love your job, striking a balance between work and the rest of your life can feel like a Sisyphean task. We’ve been there and we’ve discovered how making small changes to our daily routine can make a big impact on physical and mental health, as well as relationships with others.

Here are three effective ways to strike a work-life balance today:

1. Prioritise breaks

Have you ever noticed how energised and enthusiastic you feel about life after some much-needed time off? Or is that just us? In the same way that your phone needs recharging to operate, your body and mind need a break so that you can get back to giving your best at work.

2. Work smart

Let go of the idea that only hard work is deserving of accolades. It’s smart work that wins the day. Use the technology you have at your disposal to make your life easier, for example, if it will take more time for you to get to a face-to-face meeting, schedule a Zoom or FaceTime session to conduct business. And if you know that you have a pressing deadline and may only be able to head to the gym once this week, choose an EMS training session at BODYTEC, for a full-body strength workout that will activate up to 90% of your muscles in a single 20-minute weekly session.

3. Have a plan

If you don’t schedule daily tasks, you run the risk of getting stuck doing a lot of low-priority activities that make you feel unproductive. Set at least 3 – 5 daily priority tasks to complete and don’t veer from your list until you’ve completed all of them.

Studies show that completing a short task list increases feelings of accomplishment and reduces stress, which will leave you feeling less guilty about spending time on activities that don’t involve work.
