Meet Nirvashni Maharaj, Engineer, Travel Enthusiast and owner of our newest studio, BODYTEC Somerset West.

When Nirvashni couldn’t find a studio in her new town, she decided to open one.

Imagine enjoying great EMS training workouts and then relocating to a town where no studios are available. It’s a thought that some of us don’t even want to imagine, given the rapid results that come with consistent BODYTEC training. Thanks to Nirvashni Maharaj, as of November 2020 Somerset West residents and visitors now have access to a centrally located studio, in the Avenues Lifestyle Centre.

All too familiar with the demands of the corporate world, Nirvashni began her career in chemical engineering, having to travel extensively throughout the world, working in large industrial plants and often being the only female around. Her work life in the rat race soared but her desire for more adventure, family time, and escaping burnout, became a priority which resulted in her family packing up their lives in Johannesburg and moving to Cape Town.

After receiving post-pregnancy training at BODYTEC Douglasdale, she fell in love with the idea of getting stronger and building muscle. She loved the intense workouts and recalls that the training is so convenient for a mother of a newborn. “I was horrified to learn that there wasn’t an existing studio in Somerset West, and when I shared my woes with an ex colleague, she jokingly asked, ‘why don’t you open one’. That was how the seed was planted.”
