BODYTEC brought EMS training to South Africa in 2011 and is the leading EMS studio chain in the country. The first BODYTEC opened six years ago in March 2011 and since then we’ve partnered with dozens of entrepreneurs opening franchised studios. This year brings an exciting new development with BODYTEC going global! The first BODYPULSE studio, launched by our partners in Brazil, will open in Rio de Janeiro on the 17th of March and preparations are well under way.

BODYTEC founder and MD, Boris Leyck talks, about the journey of BODYTEC and BODYPULSE here:

About our BODYPULSE partners

Fernando Oliveira

Fernando has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He gained entrepreneurial experience by founding Haztec Tecnologia e Planejamento Ambiental fresh out of university. It grew to become one of the largest Brazilian engineering firms focused on the environmental sector and was sold by the trailblazer a decade later.

Along with his wife Danusa, Fernando then embarked on an 18-month trip around the world in his Landrover Defender, which included a Cairo to Cape Town leg. He then was appointed as the Chief Finance Officer at Klefer Marketing Esportivo, a large sports marketing company in Brazil. He met Boris and Sandra Leyck in 2011 and decided to bring the proven EMS training concept to Brazil.

Leonardo de Souza

Leonardo has a bachelor’s degree in Production Engineering at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He began his career as a management consultant at Accenture and worked as a senior supply chain analyst at Peugeot-Citroen. He then became Executive Director and board member of Michael Page in Brazil, a leading executive search firm. He did an MBA at Fundação Dom Cabral and a post-MBA degree at Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, USA. He teamed up with Fernando last year to launch BODYPULSE.

He is a keen trail runner and recently competed in the grueling 50km, Indomit Costa Esmeralda Ultra Marathon.
