If you’re passionate about working out, health, nutrition and longevity in general, this is for you!
Check out these 5 fitness trends to follow:
1. It’s all about the tech
When fitness and tech meet, there’s no looking back. It’s all about tracking and monitoring your fitness in 2019. With the rapid development of wearable tech, AI, and mixed reality, it’s an amazing time to monitor how this will continue to roll out in the health and fitness tech market.
If you want to train like an astronaut AND get a full body workout, EMS training has been used by elite athletes, astronauts and physical therapists alike. With EMS, up to 90% of your muscles contract and strengthen so you’re able to achieve the effects of a long workout in just 20 minutes a week.
Reebok launched a sports bra that utilizes the same technology as NASA space suits.
Basically, expect technology and user data collection to become even more precise, helping you achieve better results – without increasing effort. Game changer!
2. HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training)
High-intensity interval training workouts will continue to evolve in 2019. HIIT promises the best workout in the least amount of time. HIIT workouts usually combine short bursts of intense exercise with periods of rest or lower-intensity exercise, including a mix of aerobic and resistance training. Recently, fitness professionals voted HIIT the third top fitness trend for 2019 in a survey by the American College of Sports Medicine.
3. Fitness Programs for Older Adults
More people of all ages are discovering the benefits of living an active lifestyle. Due to physical limitations, lack of time or lack of motivation, a large number of older participants are either unable or unwilling to perform (intense) corresponding resistance training. EMS strength training can be used by most age groups and can help people improve their body composition as well as their physical capacity.
4. Mental Health + Body-Mind Connection
Studies have shown that simple movement routines can reduce anxiety and depression, minimize stress and improve mental clarity. Movement is about much more than just physical health, it’s about being mentally healthy too, and it’s an ever-evolving process. Moving the body literally boosts the brain. Yoga, Pilates and meditation are some of the more ‘soulful” mind-body exercises you can do to support your mental health and maintain balance.
5. Focus on Personal Training with Professionals
As people become increasingly conscious of their health and wellbeing, and with the internet providing an overwhelming amount of (often contradictory information), more and more people are seeking out certified fitness professionals and personal trainers to guide and advise them on the optimal workouts for their needs. Personal training includes fitness testing and goal setting with the trainer working one on one with a client to prescribe workouts specific to each client’s individual needs and goals.
